A Non-Performance
“I see my Kimôh for ‘a non performance’ as one of the components of the composition, the choreography was developed and refined with the Kimôh, searching for our common ways of moving.” - Alina Sokulska
For this original performance, Alina worked on the duality between light and shadow and its place in our physical, mental and emotional human experience.
I have always been attracted and inspired by contrast and dualities, in fact many Kimôhs are designed as reversible garments: the two faces define an encounter, between two ways of being, two parts of a 'whole'.
So I felt close to Alina's intentions, and her purpose seemed an ideal opportunity to use reversibility as a scenographic tool, playing with those two sides of her costume to reflect or absorb light and express opposite feelings invading her body.
