L'OBC Balla Ravel
A project from L’Auditori de Barcelona combining the choreography of Antonio Ruz with the music of the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra, seeking dialogue between dance, stage language and live music.
As a costume designer, my intention in this context was to take distance from the traditional representation of children's fairy-tale heroes.
I focussed on the personality of those characters to regenerate their representation and make them appear closer to our reality, without disguising them with dated stereotypes.
This project allowed me to use my work for a pedagogical approach and to break aesthetic conventions that influence children's vision of a princess or a lost boy in the woods.
A beautiful silk pyjama for the Sleeping Beauty, an elegant sequinned dress for the Beauty and a classic black suit for her Beast....the idea was to give a version of these characters detached from their usual appearances, in order to understand them as beings of our contemporary world, and allow a closeness not only to them but also to the whole performance
